14th April – International Pahari Language, Culture and Heritage Day

Kashmir Development Foundation (KDF) facilitated the 1st International Pahari Language, Culture, and Heritage Day celebration on 14 April 2024. KDF organised an art competition and received 15 entries in different categories for the “International Pahari Day” competition, which aimed to promote the Pahari language and culture.

The nominations received are as follows:

Dr. Arif Malik: Poetry Category (Poem Chitti Buddhi)
Aakif Javaid Video Clip (Zarayat: promotion of Pahari language & Culture)
Sibgha Kayani: Photography Category (Flowers)
Javaid Khushal Khan Short Story (Jahaz te Pilot)
Khalid Mehmood Barmangi Poetry Category (Four videos)
Fiza Sajjad Khan Kashmiri Cultural Heritage (Video)
Humna Malik Video of Different Sketches
Khowaja Pervaiz Dilbar Poetry Category (Poem: Bol tu Pahari bol)
Khowaja Pervaiz Dilbar Poetry (Ghazal)
Khowaja Pervaiz Dilbar Poetry (Naat)
Mumtaz Ghazni (ShortStory: Chadar)
Mussarat Rehman Kashmir is Calling

Saidzada Noor Hussian Advocate ( Measurement Scales in Pahari, پہاڑی وچ مِننے تے تولنے نے پیمانے)

The rubric used to compare and evaluate the entries was originality, thematic relevance, and promotion of a specific aspect of the Pahari language and Kashmiri culture. Based on this rubric, the following three entries are recommended for awarding the prize.

Humna Malik Video of Different Sketches
Mumtaz Ghazni (ShortStory: Chadar)
Changis Raja (Pahari Novel: Doungeh Sah) :پہاڑی ناول ڈونگے ساہ

Evaluated by: Dr. Raja Qaiser Ahmed, Nottingham, England

Kashmir Development Foundation is pleased to announce Rs 10,000 (Pakistan Currency) for each winning entry and a Certificate of Participation for all participants.

Kashmir Development Foundation is looking forward to working with artists and community researchers working on developing and promoting the Pahari language, arts, culture and heritage.
